Year 5/6 are studying the Ancient Egyptians this term.
At the City Learning Centre, Watermark, Metrocentre, they examined the Valley of the Kings and looked at the stunning discovery of the intact tomb of Tutankhamun by Howard Carter.
Our children had to pretend they were reporters, they used 'audioboo' and 'green screen' to record interviews with Carter or member's of his team.
What lay inside the tomb?
Can your child tell you about life in Ancient Egypt?
Ask and you will find out!

Y2/3 /4 visited the Watermark City Learning Centre on Wednesday 16th June. They worked with excellent ICT facilities on a programme called 'North East Heroes'.
Using Chromakey television technology, pupils were able to re-enact scenes for famous North East Heroes for example; Grace Darling, Captain Peacock, Lord Armstrong, Joseph Swann.
Pupils researched the hero, wrote a script and performed in front of the camera a cameo describing why the character was famous.
Staff at the Watermark have agreed to display some of our pupils work on the website.

Margaret Mimms came into Swalwell to introduce the topic of the Victorians to our pupils. She talked about life in victorian times, the clothes they wore and the life they had. Her visit was followed up with a trip to Beamish Museum and a journey to the Gateshead City Learning Centre (CLC). In the CLC children were able to retell the Beamish experience through an ICT programme called photoshop. They narrated pictures and customized motions with the help of Mrs Golding. Our thanks to the CLC staff and our class teacher for organising this fun, worthwhile, exciting outing. Photographs can be seen in the website gallery(City Learning Centre) and Beamish Mrs Anderson
Here are a few examples of our work...
Year 3/2 created their own massage based on the Story of the Lambton Worm for a school assembly to which parents and carers were invited.
They chose massage moves to depict what the worm did in the story. Each picture corresponds to a massage action for the neck, back, head or arms.
Children enjoy using massage straight after lunch to get them focused for learning in the afternoon session.Click here to view photographs of other massage sessions .
