Working together, learning together

Welcome

A busy week in Year 5

This week, we watched a special Remembrance Day service and participated in a 2 minute silence to remember all those who have fought and died in conflict. We learnt about why we celebrate Remembrance Day on the 11th of November and why Poppy’s are worn as a symbol of remembrance. We then designed and created our own Remembrance crosses to show our respect.

Also this week, we had a virtual visit from author, Guy Bass. He spoke to us about how he became an author, shared some of the books and poems he has written and even answered our questions. Some of his poems were so funny! We had a great time.

We also enjoyed raising some money for Children in Need by coming to school in non-uniform. We learnt about what Children in Need does and watched videos of children who have been supported by the charity.

Year 5

Here are some questions you might like to ask your child this week:

  • Why do we celebrate Remembrance Day on the 11th December?
  • What investigation have you been planning in Science?
  • What did you get up to in your PE lesson?

Have a great week!

Miss Grey
