Working together, learning together

Welcome

Welcome Back Key Stage One!

What a wonderful start to the year we have had in Key Stage 1! I have loved seeing everyone coming into class on time, greeting the adults with a big smile. I am so proud of how quickly all of the children have adapted to the ‘new normal’ around school and settled into our new classroom setup ready to learn.

We have had lots of fun in our learning this week. We explored germs and how easily they spread in Science and discovered just how important regular hand washing is! In Art we began our new topic and learned all about abstract art, looking at the artist Beatriz Milhazes. We also spent a lot of time considering how we are feeling and how we can express our emotions safely.

We enjoyed creating our new class dojo characters and collecting dojo points as rewards for all of our fantastic efforts. It was so lovely to see the children taking pride in being rewarded for trying their best and remembering to be polite and respectful around school.

Here are some helpful reminders for the upcoming week:

  • Our PE days are Monday and Thursday. Children should come to school in their PE kit and their school jumper. Our PE kit includes black leggings, joggers or shorts, a white t-shirt and black trainers or plimsolls.
  • Children should bring a water bottle into school with them every day. I will pop their name on their bottle to make sure it stays safe.
  •

Ms Telford, Mrs Waugh and I can’t wait to see you all next week.

Have a lovely weekend!

Miss Lawson
