Working together, learning together

Welcome

Year 4 Home Learning Friday 24th April

Morning everyone!

Hope you are all well!

Here is your work for today:

English – Use all of the ideas you have come up with this week to write a short opening to a story about The Happy Prince. In your opening you should describe the character and the setting. What does the character look like? What can your character see and here from where he is standing? Remember to use the similes, expanded noun phrases and descriptive language you have already come up with.

Challenge: Can you start your story with two fronted adverbials?

e.g. High above the city, on a tall marble column, the statue of the Happy Prince stood proudly.

On a tall tower, beneath the starry sky, stood the statue of the Happy Prince.

Maths – Use the work you did yesterday to help you answer the questions below. The first one has been done for you to get you started.

Art – Ancient Egyptians used special symbols called hieroglyphics to write. They often used these to make name plates called Cartouches for important people (picture below). Use the chart below to design your own cartouche to represent your name.

RE – Watch this video about the Easter Story.

The Christian Story of Easter | Religions of the World

Suitable for teaching 5 to 7s. An animated clip narrating the Christian story of Easter. Subscribe for more Religious Studies clips from BBC Teach on Monday ...

Either explain to adult what you have learnt about the Christian festival or answer these questions in your Home Learning book:

  • What do Christians believe happened at Easter?
  • Why do you think Easter is such an important time for Christians?

Have a great weekend!

Miss Grey
