Working together, learning together

Welcome

Year 4 Home Learning Monday 20th April

Good Morning Year 4!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the sunshine. Today we should have been returning to school for our final term of Year 4! Can you believe it? I am missing you all very much but I am very proud of you all for doing your bit by staying at home.

Here is your work for today:

English – This term we are going to be looking at a new book in English. Have a look at the front cover carefully and answer the following questions in your home school book.

  • What do you think the story will be about? Explain why you think this.
  • Where do you think the story is set?
  • Who do you think the statue is? Why is he made out of gold?
  • Who do you think this book is aimed at and why? E.g. adults, children
  • What might the title be?
  • Write one question about his story that you would like to find out.

Maths – Today we are going to work on our times tables so that when we return to school we can have lots of times tables challenges! Choose a times table that you need to work on and spend some time learning it. It is up to you how you do this but here are some ideas:

  • Make a times table poster for your room
  • Ask an adult to test you
  • Make up your own times table game
  • Challenge a sibling or grown up
  • Maths shed
  • Hit the button
  •

Topic – This term we are going to be starting a brand new topic – Ancient Egypt! Today, I would like you to start with a little bit of research to find out:

  • Where is Egypt? Which continent is it in?
  • What is the capital city of Egypt?
  • What is the name of the river that flows through Egypt?
  • What is the weather like in Egypt today?
  • Write some questions of your own that you would like to answer over the topic.

Have a great day!

Miss Grey
