Working together, learning together

Welcome

Year 5 get muddy!

Happy Friday everyone!

This week, Year 5 got started on transforming their garden for the school gardening competition. The weather hasn’t been too kind but we have had a great time getting muddy, finding all kinds of insects and learning about different types of plants. We have lots of ideas to make our garden extra special and we can’t wait to reveal it properly next week!

We have also had lots of fun in DT this week where we have been assembling the components for our steady hand game. We are excited to complete them and test them out next week. In Topic, we conducted research about William Armstrong and the Swing Bridge. We wrote persuasive letters from Armstrong’s perspective, asking for permission to build the Swing Bridge over the River Tyne. Overall, we have had a great week and have worked extremely hard.

Here are some questions you could ask your child this week:

  • What is your favourite part of the garden so far?
  • Which festivals do Sikhs celebrate?
  • Which song have you been learning to play in Music?

Year 5 pupils now have access to Reading Plus which they can access at home and at school. They should have the site code written in their homework books. The children also have access to Maths shed and Spelling shed and we have weekly rewards for those who are on the leaderboard each Friday.

Have a great week!

Miss Grey
