Today is a very special day as it is Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Day is held on the 11th of November — the 11th day of the 11th month of the year. A two-minute silence is always held at 11 a.m. to remember the millions who have died at war. We will be holding a 2 minute silence in class to show our respect, please feel free to join in at home.

Remembrance Day was first held in 1919, one year after the First World War ended to remember all of the brave soldiers who died for us and it has taken place every year since! We show our respect and memory by wearing poppies.

I would like you to spend some time today reflecting on Remembrance day and creating your own piece of artwork. This could be decorating a remembrance cross, drawing a picture, creating your own poppy or creating some artwork on Purplemash.

Here are some ideas:

Stay safe!
