Working together, learning together

Welcome

Fraction Stars!

Another busy week in Year 6 (Do we ever have a quiet one?), the children have worked really well on their new maths topic of fractions. Their understanding of equivalent fractions and simplifying has improved rapidly and they are certainly beginning to apply their times table knowledge.

In English, we have been writing setting descriptions based on the opening scene – a battlefield. Their vocabulary choices are definitely improving.

In Science, we have been studying the moon. Why not ask them some questions about it?

  • What is the moon made from?
  • Does the moon orbit the Earth or does the Earth orbit the moon?
  • How long does it take to complete one orbit?
  • Why does the shape of the moon change when we look at it each night?

All of the children have been asked to complete a moon diary for the next month to show the different phases of the moon.

Have a great weekend everyone.
