Summer Term
Reception have made a fantastic start to the summer term. We have all enjoyed making the most of the spring weather and have spent a lot of time outside making potions, playing games and planting some sunflower seeds. We have talked about what the seeds will need to grow and can't wait to see how tall they will get. In maths we have been working hard on counting forwards and backwards to add and subtract. We worked on this during our maths lessons and then took it outside and created a large number line to move backwards and forwards along.
Our book this week is 'Peepo' by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. We have spent time looking carefully at all of the pictures and finding objects that tell us that the story is set in the past. We were very puzzled by the old fashioned electric fire, some of us thought it was a bench and others that it was a toy piano. We have also made telescopes to help us to spy things in our classroom.
