Hi Year 1, I hope you are all doing well and staying safe.
English – At the end of the book we see the Jolly Postman reading a letter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpeo_0yoD0k
I would like you to imagine that it is your letter he is reading. Write a letter to the postman asking him questions but also telling him about yourself and giving him advice. Remember to start with ‘Dear’ and finish with ‘From’ and include an address.
Maths – Practise counting in 5’s. What do you notice about the pattern? Are they odd or even? You can practise counting in multiples of 5 by ordering the numbers using this game: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/caterpillar-ordering
Phonics – Practise the codes /d/ and /ed/. Remember the /ed/ ending has two different ways to say it. Can you spot the code /ed/ in the book?
History/DT – Investigate who is on our stamps? Is it always the same person on our stamps? Who do you think will be on the stamps in 20 years time? Sometimes there are special stamps to celebrate people or events. Can you design your own stamp celebrating something?
