Working together, learning together

Welcome

Year 4 Home Learning Tuesday 21st April

Good morning everyone!

Hope you are all well.

Here is your work for today:

English – Yesterday you made predictions about our story from the front cover. Our story is called The Happy Prince and it is about a beautiful, golden statue which stands high above a city and watches what happens below. Because he is a prince, he is made from the most expensive materials. Here is a picture of the Happy Prince Statue. Can you write down some adjectives, expanded noun phrases and similes to describe the Prince? e.g. a heavy sword with the sharpest of blades in his right hand, emeralds glistening like sun reflecting on a lake.

Maths – We are going to be learning about telling the time. Before we learn how to tell the time on a clock, we need to know about minutes and hours. Can you complete the statements below and then use what you have learnt to solve the problem?

Topic – Watch this video which gives you an introduction to Ancient Egypt.

Think carefully about the River Nile. The River Nile was vital in Ancient Egyptian times as it provided food, transport and water for farming. Lots of people lived next to the Nile.

Make a list of advantages (good things) and disadvantages (bad things) of living near the river. Use what you learnt in the video and the website below to help you.
