Working together, learning together

Welcome

Year 6 Home Learning Thursday 21st May

Hope you’re all well. It was certainly a warm day yesterday, I wonder if today is as warm? If it is remember to take care out in the sun.

English – I want you to watch a 4 minute clip today about the place where I took my photographs. You will need to make notes as you watch. Remember you can pause a video so you can write things down and you can watch it more than once.

Map your notes out once you’re finished watching into different areas, you can think of your own sub-headings, I suggest things like: the location; animals inhabiting (living) there; different types of plants; the natural environment; why humans visit the moon. You can use paper to make your notes on or use Purple Mash 2Connect if you find it easier.

Enjoy the video.

Pandora Discovered

Sigourney Weaver narrates this first look at the world of Pandora, as portrayed in James Cameron's epic new motion picture, Avatar. Opens worldwide December 18.

Maths – Some more fraction work today.

Can you remember how to multiply fractions?

Tell someone at home what a numerator and a denominator is.

Art – Last week we started to look at the work of an artist.

Today I want you to practise drawing the tunnel. You will need to draw very faintly at first and gradually build up ‘layers’ of curved lines which will gradually make it darker.

Don’t try to add any figures yet, just the curved lines.

  1. Start by drawing a circle towards the top of your paper, this is the ‘end’ of the tunnel. You want to make this dark.
  2. Then, gradually draw your circles/curves around it.
